The prospective students eagerly awaited the most important part of the day's program, which had been so eagerly awaited for months - and even years: The appointment as a trainee inspector in the North Rhine-Westphalia police force!
The new recruitment cohort was ceremoniously welcomed by Police President Ursula Tomahogh and the training management on Monday (01.09.2025) in the Nahmerhalle in Hohenlimburg. Against the backdrop of the modernized industrial hall, they welcomed 279 young people, including eight government inspector candidates (RIA), who will all begin their dual studies at the NRW University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration (HSPV NRW) in the coming week.
After an extensive welcome day with many new impressions, new faces and names, the big moment finally arrived yesterday: Their own name is called, they walk up to the stage podium and stand infront of Police Commissioner Ursula Tomahogh and the representatives of the training management. With beaming faces and a firm handshake, the new students were congratulated by Mrs. Tomahogh & Co. After the presentation of the certificate and a subsequent signature, the tension visibly fell away from the now so-called civil servants on revocation. However, the appointment, which marked the end of the welcoming event, also marked the start of a varied, challenging, but above all formative chapter in their lives.
Over the next three years, the trainee commissioners will undergo an intensive course of study with a combination of theory, training and practice to prepare them for their future tasks. After successfully completing their studies, they will be appointed police commissioner and receive the academic title Bachelor of Arts. The prospective government inspectors acquire the academic title Bachelor of Laws. During their studies, they prepare for a career in administration. Hagen Police wish all students much joy and success in their studies!
On September 1, 2025, another great and important event took place at Hagen Police Headquarters. 27 police officers and two government inspectors took up their duties in the city on the Volme.
Among the new recruits to the Hagen police force are nine experienced officers who have been transferred to Hagen from other authorities. The group is supplemented by 18 newly trained inspectors. They were still students the week before they took up their duties and have been on duty with their first star on their shoulders since September 1, 2025. In addition, two newly trained government inspectors have joined the administrative department of the Hagen police force. Chief Constable Ursula Tomahogh and the extended management team officially welcomed the new employees to Hagen Police Headquarters. After the welcoming address, Hagen's highest uniformed officer, Police Director Ursula Schönberg (Head of the Directorate for Emergency Response/Employment), introduced the formal act of swearing in. With their right hand raised, the young inspectors took their oath before going into direct contact with their new directorate, watch and police station managers. The Hagen police are delighted with the new recruits and wish them every success in their responsible role in and for Hagen.
