Road safety advice with video messages
Our road safety advice service has taken an important step towards greater road safety. In times of pandemic-related contact restrictions, we looked for new ways to get in touch with people - and found one.

Police road safety work thrives on personal contact between police officers and people, whether young or old. It thrives on instruction and practice and on training in road traffic - on foot or by bike.

Corona has thrown a spanner in the works for our road safety advisors: at times, pupils were in distance learning, senior citizens' facilities could not be visited and police activities could not take place.

We looked for a new way to continue our road safety work and reach people. And we found one: Video messages, as a kind of tutorial!

Our collection of ideas yielded plenty of material for 21 really strong video clips, divided into target groups and focal points.

Until the first clips were in the can, we wrote countless texts - and discarded them again. We recorded film sequences what felt like 50 times, inserted images, reworked the sound and edited the videos. We found a musician for the intro, cleared image and music rights and hired a media expert. And all of this - please! - at a reasonable price!

And our efforts have paid off, the first 13 videos are ready! You can find them at https://viersen.polizei.nrw/videos Take a look! And feel free to make suggestions or offer constructive criticism.

Road safety work in facilities is currently possible again thanks to low incidence. We are delighted to be able to get back into personal contact with people. Nevertheless, we are sure that our videos are a useful addition to this. Also because nobody can predict how things will continue with corona.
